Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 School Year at JWP High School!!
I teach all the Family and Consumer Science FACS classes at JWP. The courses I teach include: 8th grade FACS, Fast and Easy Class, Chef's Class, Baking 101, Advanced Baking, Child Development I/II, Consumer Economics, and an Interior Design and Housing class!!
I was born, raised and graduated from Albert Lea High School. I attended and graduated from Minnesota State University - Mankato (Mankato State University) with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education. I currently live in Eagle Lake with my husband Rick and we have four children, Garrett and his wife Anastacia, Caylin, Kalli, and Camryn. I have been teaching Family and Consumer Science classes for 28 years. Currently this is my 26th year teaching Family and Consumer Science with the JWP School District.
Activities I enjoy include: baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, crafts/projects (Pinterest), watching our children's activities (music events, tennis, golf, and hockey), and actively walking (aim for 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day)!
Some of the areas covered in the FACS classes include nutrition, healthy food choices, MyPlate, food guidelines, kitchen safety, food safety, microwave cooking, cupcakes, candies and cakes, cake decorating, pies and pastries, fruits and vegetables, sandwiches, pasta-making, knife skills, fashion trends/styles, sewing, teenage pregnancy, infants and toddlers, financial literacy, consumer purchases, insurances, budgets, credit, checking/saving accounts, careers, resume, interior design, housing, and many additional topics related to each of the FACS class.
Technology is integrated within the FACS classes through the school issued chromebooks. The use of the chromebooks will allow students to engage in the 21st century learning skills and to help prepare them for their future education/careers.
I look forward to another great year at JWP High School! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me either at school 507-234-5181, my classroom phone 507-231-7783, cell number 507-420-7449, or by email
